Acoustic architecture, technological performance: we visited the Architettura Sonora (AS) stand at ISE 2024, where we discovered news regarding both the speaker models and the materials with which they are handcrafted.
The first news concerns the Spherina loudspeaker which, like all Architettura Sonora elements, was normally produced in concrete or marble. In Barcelona, here is Spherina Air Pluma, much lighter than the classic version as made from a special compost resin. As the lightest model in the entire AS range – it weighs only 5 kg – it offers designers new ways of application.
Claudia Stortini, marketing coordinator at Architettura Sonora, sums up the evolution and advantages: “The lighter weight facilitates all kinds of applications of our iconic Spherina, allowing for wall-mounted suspended installations, and not only ceiling-mounted as before, or thinner, less resistant surfaces. This is a significant change because this product has enormous potential for us, which we can achieve thanks to this trick, while keeping the concrete proposal alive,” she explains.
Acoustic art, also in finishes
Another interesting aspect, in terms of treatments and finishes, is the Klondike Special Line. This collection consists of a coating of multilayer metal particles, applied on concrete or composite resin. Speakers subject to these 7 treatment variants can be installed indoors, or in covered outdoor areas, except for the Corten version, which is also suitable for outdoor use.
Finally, Big Cylinder. A newcomer to the cylinder family, it is also the largest. And the only one that integrates an 8″ full-range loudspeaker and have a baffle made of the same material as the upper body. Thus, guaranteeing high acoustic performance and highlighting the materiality of its parts. The design is even more marked and elegant in the version with the Light Option, which houses a LED strip in a special niche around the loudspeaker area.
