At ISE 2024, the American company Netgear, specialized in networking with a vast and differentiated catalogue, presented the new generation of its AV switches, with a view to broadcast
Next-generation Netgear products and services are specifically designed to facilitate the management and support of AV network infrastructures. In particular, the new M4350 Pro AV switches support (on two models) the SMPTE ST 2110 transmission standard, which translates into unprecedented ease of configuration in the broadcast world. Furthermore, the AV switch range supports all transmission protocols including IPMX, NDI, Dante, SRT etc. In short, the M4350 line offers greater scalability and redundancy, while NETGEAR AV OS and Engage Controller software simplify the installation and configuration process with pre-configured profiles certified by more than 250 AV manufacturers and all major audio, video and lighting protocols.
At the Netgear stand, we had the opportunity to exchange a few words with Salvio Celotto, Sales Manager Italy, who introduced the company as follows: “Netgear was born in California in 1996 and has its headquarters in the United States. In Italy we have two business units: one linked to home connectivity and one to the professional world, which I personally supervise. We only sell through IT distributors, in Italy we have distribution agreements with all the major players in the sector.”
C – What do you primarily deal with and what is the meaning of your presence here at ISE?
SC – We have historically dealt with networking, but since 2016 we have had an AV division that focuses on a series of switches with technical particularities that make them suitable for the AV world. Moreover, if previously our product park was mainly IT, it must be said that we have always had the licenses to enable the AV protocol on some switches. However, since 2016 we have invested significantly in this sector, which now represents a good portion of our turnover, in Italy almost 50% of the business. Many of our products are truly plug and play, they come out of the box practically already configured. Here at ISE we presented the new models of the M4300 series designed specifically for the broadcast market, television and radio broadcasters.
C – How did the fair go?
SC – Very good. It is a very focused fair, for me it is the first time and I must say that I found a unique event, here there is truly the whole sector and also intersections between sectors, see the current trend towards broadcast. There are many exhibitors but also customers who are really interested in what is on display.
C – Speaking of customers, who is your target customer? And your sales areas?
SC – Our client is the system integrator, even if in the broadcast sector the user often coincides with the system integrator. However, it is towards the system integrator that we carry out information activities on new technologies. The sectors in which we operate are decidedly transversal, from commercial AV to residential, but also industrial installations, yachts and cruise ships, universities, etc. Our products are very flexible and we have made them much simpler in terms of configuration.
