The innovative digital signage system developed for the MiCo (Milan Convention Centre), hosts 165 professional LG Business Solutions displays.
70 conference rooms, 2 plenary rooms, an auditorium with 1,500 seats and 54,000 square meters of exhibition space, for a total capacity of 18,000 people. These are the impressive numbers of the MiCo (Milan Convention Centre), the international conference centre managed by the Fiera Milano Group, which can count on an equally high-performing technological and visual system, capable of supporting the stringent communication needs of the events hosted within, often even in parallel.
“We work in a competitive context, which requires exceptionally high standards to remain among the best structures on a global level – explains Fabrizio Conte, Head of Marketing & Communications at Fiera Milano Congressi, a subsidiary company of the Fiera Milano Group -. The digital signage project developed together with LG Business Solutions was therefore part of the task of equipping MiCo with a digital and intelligent signage system. Providing clear, visible and easily accessible information for visitors is essential in guaranteeing a unique experience that measures up to a conference space of such magnitude”.
The “pinnacle” of visual experiences
A farsighted and environmentally conscious insight- let’s not forget that video technology effectively eliminates the need to print large quantities of informative material on paper – which MiCo management has chosen to entrust to LG Business Solutions‘ technological solutions.
The installation of 165 LG displays, including Full HD, Ultra Stretch and Touch signage monitors, together with Video Wall solutions, has in fact contributed to improving the visual experience of MiCo guests, improving the structure’s performance and making it ready to “stand out” in the conference industry sector.
“Our challenge – adds Fabio Martucci, A/V Technical Department Manager at Fiera Milano Congressi – was to be able to offer our international guests unique experiences in a functional, welcoming environment with cutting-edge technologies. All of this, combining digital innovation with environments subject to the continuous flow of people, who required dynamic content, adaptability to different thematic contexts, and the highest image quality. Thanks to LG solutions and the collaboration with its Italian distributor Prase Media Technologies, we have found the right combination of versatility and efficiency”.
LG’s visual systems are also compatible with TriplePlay software, which streamlines the daily communication operations that follow on from one event to the next, integrating solutions that are easy to implement, even in a complex structure like MiCo.
The secret? Ultra Stretch, Full HD, and more displays
In such a varied context, LG’s Ultra Stretch professional solutions could not be overlooked. Thanks to the possibility of both horizontal and vertical installation, in fact these monitors adapt perfectly to large settings with high foot traffic, such as the foyer for welcoming visitors, and the many needs that a conference space can have. In particular, MiCo hosts 8 86″ Signage Monitors of the BH7C series, with 58:9 format and 700 nit brightness, and 9 88″ ones belonging to the BH7D series, top of the LG Ultra Stretch range, with 3840 x 1080 resolution and 32:9 format, ideal for interior signage.
Not only are there Ultra Stretch in the interior spaces of MiCo, but also many, different installations designed according to the specific needs of the environments. The LG and Prase video production includes, in fact, another 20 22″ FULL HD SM3B Series signage monitors and 111 SM5KD series products of various sizes (65″, 55″, 43″, and 32″), as well as 12 55″ series LV75D Video Walls and 5 Signage Touch Full HD 55″ TC3D Monitors.

Among the main advantages of the new congress installation is the possibility of reproducing extra content and services updated in real time (e.g. weather, maps, news, taxi status, streaming and promotional content), and the resulting extension of the offer to customers, both in terms of technological equipment and in the eco-friendly approach linked to energy savings generated by digital technologies.
This solution was also positively received on the usability front: “We had given ourselves about a year to learn how to use the system management software and to start marketing these digital spaces – Conte concludes – but the flexibility of the installation has allowed us to “sell” it even before completing the test phase. We are very satisfied, so much so that we hope to be able to implement it soon with other increasingly smart professional monitors to increase interactions with the public and the emotional involvement of visitors”.
A success that is the result of a broader vision in LG’s strategy for the conference market. This is confirmed by Nicola Micali, LG’s Business Solutions Product & Marketing Manager, who was equally satisfied with the outcome of the system installed in the MiCo area. “LG is bringing a breath of fresh air to many professional sectors – comments the LG manager -, helping the approach to visual communication and interactive information in the business environment evolve. Visitors, conference participants, and guests who come to MiCo from all over the world are increasingly involved and supported in their experiences, thanks to the communication and transmission of useful information through our latest-generation displays”.
