4K was the big star at ISE 2018 for ATEN, with new presentation switchers for conference rooms, new 4K AV and KVM over-IP extenders and lots of live demos.
An easy to navigate booth, dedicated hands-on live demos and interactive sessions: this is how ATEN organized their booth at ISE 2018, where they expertly presented all their versatile solutions, more specific, the 4K over IP world and all its possible applications, from digital signage to control rooms. All in all, at ISE it was possible to explore ATEN’s portfolio with a simple glance, thanks to the booth’s five sections, each dedicated to a product category (traffic control, IT / datacenter management, conference rooms, digital signage and home office), but all united by a basic philosophy: “ATEN Pro AV and IT in daily life”.
Dedicated to conference rooms, ATEN is launching its “VP presentation switcher”-series, which allow users to easily connect their laptops while attending a meeting. The ATEN VP1920 is a switcher with nine 4K inputs and two 4K outputs and is designed for small to mid-sized meeting rooms. The other models, with further capabilities such as live streaming and file sharing via internet, will be made available over the course of 2018.
4K, over-IP in particular, was the center of attention, since over-IP distribution of a very definite and detailed signal can lead to numerous interesting applications, from video surveillance to digital signage. ATEN presented several solutions that, for simplicity’s sake, can be grouped into two families: on the one hand, there are ATEN’s VE8900/VE8950 AV over IP extenders for display-oriented installations. On the other hand, the KE8950/KE8952 KVM over IP extenders provide the workstation-oriented answer. When connected over IP in a local network, both extenders form a virtual matrix.
The KE-Series are highly demanded for in control rooms, as they offer workstation flexibility. They manage access regardless of the operating system, routing any computer to any workstation desired. Users can be assigned different authority levels, to assure secure server-connections. A great feature of ATEN’s KE-series is the videowall functionality. The processes and live-streams from cameras, servers, NVR, and other commonly used sources can be displayed in a multitude of screens. The entire setting stays easily controllable by serial command, on-screen display, telnet and a management software with live previews. Furthermore, Managers can push and pull server access from/to any workstation, videowall or display in the network. ATEN KVM extenders are regularly deployed in public surveillance facilities, traffic control and automated manufacturing.
Meanwhile, the digital signage industry has been transforming more rapidly. 4K is becoming the norm for newly installed kiosks, touchscreens, information boards and videowalls. Therefore, ATEN recently launched its 4K HDMI over IP matrix and videowall system. The system connects vertical or horizontal screens over IP to various video sources. It can process videowalls without limitation. To create interactive public spaces, USB touchscreens can be combined with mirror-displays and videowalls in one installation. ATEN’s VE8950 over IP extenders are easy and quick to deploy. Sources are selected from a user-friendly web interface, built into each transmitter and receiver, or via simple pushbuttons. Furthermore, the VE8950 matrix system passes serial, infrared and USB signals, allowing to control the different video sources remotely. Well-known for its (modular) matrix switches and videowall solutions, ATEN adds a highly professional 4K IP-based signal distribution solution to its product range with this VE8950 over IP extender.
Finally, among the other products displayed at ISE 2018, we would like to point out the CL3800NW Short Depth Full HD LCD Console, KN1132V KVM over IP switch and KL1116V LCD with KVM over IP switch.
