With this text, we would like to kick off a column dedicated to updates from Asia, an area of great interest for those wishing to expand their business in this part of the world where, according to estimates, the average growth rate for the AV sector verges on 5% (source: AVIXA).
Events, updates, interviews, fairs and much more, and that’s right where we’ll start. Last week (5-7 September), the first edition of InfoComm Chengdu took place, created alongside the edition in Beijing, with the objective of covering the immense – and strategic – western Chinese territory. In an area where the government is investing resources in growth, already a region of great economic interest given that it is a focal point of the country’s transportation and communications, the event was an enormous success, already surpassing the first edition’s 8,000 visitors, of which over 5,000 attended the 40 scheduled training sessions. 150 brands were present, with the likes of names such as Intel, Epson, Yamaha, Harman and Bose, etc., who showed solutions and applications in numerous environments, from digital signage to 3D projections, security and video surveillance, education, entertainment, collaborative communication, and even still healthcare and hospitality—not to forget the “classic” corporate applications.
A cross-sectional event, which was able to suggest ideas and inspire innovation, as in the testimony of Jonson Wu, TV Division Vice Gen Manager of Alibaba Group’s OS Business Unit: “It was a very good show, definitely one of the most professional trade shows I’ve attended in China. […] I learned quite a few new ideas, like the integrated solutions for enterprise meetings which I can immediately implement for a few conference room projects I’m working on for my clients. The show also brings together many of our potential future customers, as well as competitors. At the same time, I can size up competitors’ product offerings and stay competitive.”
Also noteworthy was the final word from Richard Tan, Executive Director of InfoComm Asia: “These visitor numbers are beyond our expectations and we are heartened by the turnout. The response has shown that we have underestimated the need for a platform like Chengdu InfoComm China, which brings the best of Pro-AV and Integrated Experience from all over the world under one roof to satiate the pent-up demand for such cutting-edge technologies in the emerging Western China region.” InfoComm Chengdu was undoubtedly a further confirmation of the thirst for innovation in the Chinese market that, as demonstrated over time, has been able to welcome products and solutions of companies from around the world.
All that remains is to get ready for the next event that will bring us to Mumbai: now in its 5th edition, InfoComm India will open its gates on 18 September in the atmosphere of excitement for the just-finished show. The Connessioni Team will be present with a booth, but most of all to give support to this year’s Italian participants: PowerSoft and Totem of Design. Follow us and we’ll tell you everything…about them and the excitement for the Indian market.
