LD Systems audio technologies and Cameo lights transform Ghent’s Jenny indoor cycling club into a truly scenic location.
Do I go dancing, have fun or do I spin? One might wonder looking at the new Adam Hall installation of the “Jenny” indoor cycling club in Ghent, Belgium. Many think that the golden age of this sport has long since passed, but in recent years bike fitness has been able to regain the slice of the market that today characterises the most modern and trendy centres.
As in the case of the Belgian spinning gym, which offers its patrons an urban club atmosphere and motivating rhythms thanks to the LD Systems MAUI 44 G2 column PA systems and the Cameo Zenit P130 LED PAR spotlights. Powerful technologies that are perfectly adaptable to the underground look of the venue’s vaulted ceilings.
The role of the MAUI 44G2 systems
In addition to aesthetics and sensations, let’s not forget that spinning is an activity inseparable from music. And therefore also from the quality of the audio: the melodies push and structure the intensity of the training. The bigger the group, the more both power and incisiveness are needed to pull the participants and allow them to give their best. An ideal task for the MAUI 44 G2 models, considering that the historical configuration of the Jenny did not allow the installation of lights and sound technologies on the old stone vault.
The LD Systems in fact cover a total of 60 bicycles plus one on the podium, reserved for the instructor. Here there are four arrays, spread over a length of 24 meters. “The MAUI 44 G2 convinced us above all with their combination of high power, slim dimensions and optimal sound dispersion”, explains Robert-Jan van den Burg, managing director of AEsound group BV, Dutch integrator responsible for the set-up. Thanks to the concept, AEsound did not have to install any additional subwoofer all-in-one systems. This is because the 15″ woofers of the MAUI 44 G2 provide a lot of bass and punch when using beat-heavy music playlists. To control the entire audio system, a DSP LD Systems ZONE X 1208 matrix with hybrid architecture manages both the active PA systems and the sources.
“The array creates seamless coverage throughout the room, with a constant volume. We benefit from the narrow vertical opening angle of the columns, which eliminates the problems of reflection with the walls of the vault.” Added the systems integrator.

Speaking of clubs, music and sweat, lighting also plays a big part. That’s why the designers of the Jenny chose six Cameo ZENIT P130 LED PAR spotlights, which create an atmospheric light on the rough stone walls and ceilings.
Here comes the beauty: both the lighting scenarios and the audio control (music playback and earphones for the instructors) can be comfortably managed by the instructors via a tablet, live, during training. Those who attend the club benefit from this “real time” flexibility and it improves the performance of the whole group!
