The fair officially starts on Tuesday, but by now the Monday before is part of the fair, too, with some important appointments: the two full-day conferences (and also the longest-lived, as was pointed out to us)—that is, Smart Building Conference and our own AudioForum, organized in collaboration with AES—the opening Key Note by Polish artist Bart Kresa (more can be read about him below), and the welcome party for visitors and exhibitors.
- 16: the debut of artist Bart Kresa’s multimedia work. Kresa also gave the opening Key note yesterday evening
- 17: the inauguration of the mapping on the new nhow hotel next to the RAI, a collaboration between Lang and Panasonic
- 17: Bose press conference and product launch at Novotel (5 minutes from the RAI)
- 19.30: Gala dinner and party for the InAvation Awards, which has two Italian companies in the running this year for Best Distributor: Prase Media Technologies and Comm-Tec (even though Prase announced just two days ago that they entered in the Midwich group…which incidentally is also in the race in the same category).
A different AudioForum compared to prior editions: focused on the topics of acoustics, psychoacoustics and the interaction between people, sound and environments, it aimed to gather systems integrators and sound designers under the same roof as consultants, architects and designers. As far as we can tell, the attempt wasn’t without success. The packed house and positive comments encouraged us, including comments from Bert Kraijpoel, Secretary of AES Netherlands: “The presentations were varied, and it certainly wasn’t easy to put together the interests of professionals that speak different languages but have the same common goals. In general, it was a very interesting day, with good representation from the Netherlands AES Section, which by now recognizes AudioForum as one of the events during the year that can’t be missed.”
The first day of the fair already has many launches and events; among them—after the ribbon-cutting this morning, ISE’s press conference and Crestron’s just after—we will highlight:
A first day that is already very full…we recommend that those in Amsterdam save some energy for tomorrow, which will be no less exciting!
