AV solutions and integration: a sector that knows no crisis, nor slowdowns, even in the technological commotion of new players and solutions, and in the “shift” of traditional systems towards new areas of application.
We can also see this in the market data and in the major European industry exhibitions, which are often very reactive thermometers. And this is confirmed by the AVIXA forecasts for the next five years, which project the American and Asian markets – the two trendsetters in the professional AV world – at the top of global growth. By 2024, in fact, the turnover of solutions and services related to Pro AV will increase from the current 89 billion to 112 billion dollars in the Americas, which will even be surpassed by the Asia-Pacific market (APAC), ready to reach 127.6 billion dollars, from 90.6 billion expected in 2019.
“Despite APAC’s rise to the top spot as the largest region for pro AV revenues – comments Sean Wargo, Senior Director of Market Intelligence at AVIXA – the Americas remains a vibrant market. Conferencing, collaboration, and digital signage solutions dominate, thanks to continued investment by a variety of customer types. Even corporations, which may be shifting to a more cautious capital expense approach, continue to invest in technology to facilitate remote employees and promote their brands”.
In the era of technological change
In particular, the 2019 2019 AV Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA) Americas Summary portrays a North American market strongly anchored in streaming media, storage and distribution (SMSD) solutions, with revenues of $20.6 billion.
Video projection, on the other hand, is going in the opposite direction: in line with global trends, AVIXA predicts a decline in this market in the United States and Canada from the current $3 billion to $1.9 billion in 2024. The same is true for South America and elsewhere, as confirmed by forecasts from other geographical regions of the world.
Why? Analysts point out that end customers are increasingly shifting to large, flat-panel displays that are now more affordable and easier to use than projectors. But that’s not all: our reflection aims to go beyond the market data, to consider another important trend, observed in recent years at ISE and on other occasions, even in Italy. In light of the technological and professional evolution described by AVIXA, it would appear that the video projection market is experiencing a progressive shift towards more artistic applications. From projection mapping to museum installations, multimedia in an artistic context and in live events attracts projectors, while in classic installations they are giving way to the world of displays.
As a result, new installations, professions and business opportunities are there to be taken. In our opinion, system integration is an important strategic and technological driver, and its evolution certainly involves Italian companies and professionals. We will keep you posted!
