The Spanish manufacturer Equipson, known primarily for its vast catalog and the Work Pro brand, brought a number of new products to Amsterdam this year, concentrating on speaker enclosures for difficult environmentally-challenging installation applications.
Juan Josè Vila, COO & CMO of Equipson, showed us around the Equipson booth and pointed out some of their latest offerings. “Though they are not brand new,” said Vila, “we have improved our IP54 Athos Series surface-mount fiberglass speaker enclosures. They equipped with transformers, so that they can be installed in low-impedance or constant voltage systems in outdoor applications.”
“Then we have our Garden speakers,” continued Vila. “There are two 2-way directional models in the discreet shape of rocks – MR 110 S and MR 110 G, sand- and grey-coloured, respectively. There is also an omnidirectional model, NGS 5L, with a single 5″ full-range transducer. Then there is a big below-ground 8″ subwoofer, the NGS 8S, with the enclosure concealed below-ground and only the port visible above the ground. Theses are for parks, hotel swimming pool areas, and are equipped for constant voltage input and are IP65 rated. The solution is already available and, in fact, there is a zoo in Holland where they are installing 400 units of this one.”
New speakers
Making their debut at the show were the SoundNut Series pendant speakers. These are elegant, customisable hanging enclosures, designed especially for environments with difficult environmental characteristics.
“Our new SoundNut enclosures feature coaxial transducers,” explained Vila. “There are four models now, with another on the way. There are 6″, 8″, and 10″ models, while  with the same enclosure of the 10″ model, we offer an 8″ sub. In places such as casinos and some other venues there is no possibility to place any speakers on the floor, so everything is pendant. These are also IP65, as indoor swimming pools are an important market for this type of enclosure, as they create fewer reflections. They have magnetized grilles and the top covers are made of fiberglass,” adds Vila, “and they can be customised by us or by the customer.”
Equipson were also presenting more IP65 speakers for small venues, with two new enclosures: WFS 10 CX+ – a 10″, two-way, 300 W speaker for mid-field, and WFS 10 CX 500, which can handle power up to 1000 W for longer-throw applications. “Another new series we are presenting at ISE 2019 is a series of aluminum column speakers: UDA4, UDA2 and UDA1 – respectively with 4×3″, 2×3″ and 1×3″ transducers. These columns are IP65-rated and fire resistant,. The next step is to have them EN54 certified”.

LightShark by Work Pro
Finally, Work Pro was showing off their revolutionary lighting control system LightShark, winner of an AV Award in 2018.
LightShark is a lighting control system able to drive up to eight universes of DMX. It has a unique web-based user interface that can connect to up to three iOS, Android, Linux, Windows or macOS devices at the same time to create multiscreen control system.
“LightShark has been the most successful product ever for us,” stated Vila. “LS1 has a control surface with a computer inside, while LS-core is the smallest eight-universe lighting console in the world. It has the same features as LS-1 but the parameters are controlled completely through a mobile device. While other PC-based lighting controllers require software to be installed on the user’s computer, LightShark uses the external devices solely as the interface. The advantage of this unique system is that the functions of the controller don’t depend on an external processor and are not affected by the stability of the users’s device.”
