The sound diffusion in the Gingko Sky Bar of the Plaza España Design Hotel in Madrid was achieved thanks to the CURV 500 system by LD Systems, an Adam Hall brand. The peculiarity of the system is that the audio diffusion, which is very effective in the Sky Bar, does not prevent the rest of the five-star luxury hotel guests.
Party upstairs, rest downstairs: this is how we could summarize the core of the installation created for the Plaza España Design Hotel in Madrid thanks to LD Systems’ CURV 500. In particular, it’s the Gingko Sky Bar – located on the twelfth floor of the building that houses the hotel – that was the subject of the installation: offering refined Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine and a splendid view of the Spanish capital, this venue is inevitably an attraction for those staying in the hotel, and not only.
To ensure that hotel guests on the lower floors were not disturbed despite the Gingko Sky Bar often hosting live music as well as club lounge music, Sassot Sound, the company that took care of the installation, had to be creative. The solution (provided by Audiovisuales Sanser, another company specifically involved in the project) materialized in the form of the LD Systems CURV 500 portable array system.
Audiovisuales Sanser installed twelve CURV 500 clusters with four array satellites each, complemented by ten CURV 500 iSUB subwoofers, perfect for the elongated shape of the Sky Bar, which features high ceilings and large floor-to-ceiling windows. The complete system is driven by five CURV 500 I AMP digital power amplifiers. Very flexible and scalable, CURV 500 proved to be the perfect choice for a difficult environment, in which it was important to guarantee homogeneous coverage in all points, despite the very high ceilings and the many glass surfaces.
But let’s hear one of the protagonists of this interesting installation, Carlos Serna of Audiovisuales Sanser, who said: “Initially for the Gingko Sky Bar there were conventional speakers and subwoofers, but this would have resulted in problems with the transmission of sound. The hotel guests in the rooms located under the Sky Bar did not have to be disturbed by the music, so the hotel was looking for an amplification solution that would cover only and exclusively the bar space as precisely as possible.”
Among the advantages of the LD CURV 500 system there is, in fact, the possibility of dividing the system into different freely selectable sound amplification points.
Carlos Serna continues: “The CURV 500 iSUB subwoofer and the practical, very well thought-out wall and ceiling mounting set represented further strengths in the design of the system, of which the architects and designers at the hotel also fully declared themselves. satisfied.”
Besides, Serna is not only a CURV 500 system but also a big fan of the Stinger series, also signed by LD Systems. “We always use the Stinger” – he concluded – “when we need more sound pressure and more power, especially in night clubs or other similar places.”
