[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The new generation of Tesira DSP processors, launched together with the Tesira 4.0 software and firmware, combines several features of previous Tesira products in a single product in order to provide faster and easier integration in all medium and large-sized conference environments.

The Biamp brand, distributed in Italy by Prase Media Technologies, presented the new generation of TesiraFORTÉ X processors, which includes three models: 400, 800 and 1600. These are DSP processors designed for conference rooms and equipped with multiple network connection points and analog audio, with four, eight and sixteen channels of acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) respectively. This new generation of Tesira products offers users an even wider choice of equipment to build increasingly functional and modern meeting rooms.

TesiraFORTÉ: overview

TesiraFORTÉ X is designed to be used primarily with Biamp’s beam-forming microphones, PoE amplifiers and speakers. A system including these elements and a UC-room system, display and camera will provide a complete technology solution for a UC-enabled conference room.

The typical function is to process local Biamp microphone input and speaker output signals in support of audio-only and audio/video conference calls from dedicated conference rooms, but TesiraFORTÉ X can also be custom programmed for many other applications. It offers two discrete modes of operation. The default behavior allows single-button press auto-configuration assisted by Biamp Launch. The second option allows users to manually configure and completely customize the device signal paths a la a traditional Tesira DSP device.

The detection of the IP address and the connection of TesiraFORTÉ X can be done through the Biamp Discovery app, using the Biamp Tesira software (version 4.0 and later) or the Biamp SageVue management software. Biamp Discovery is able to query the local network for automatically configurable TesiraFORTÉ X and Devio SCX devices and to present to the user or installer a list of detected devices, together with serial number, IP address and connection to the web interface for each device.

Three shades of TesiraFORTÉ X

There are 3 TesiraFORTÉ X models supporting various densities of AEC processing. TesiraFORTÉ X 400 has 4 channels of AEC, supporting up to 4 Parlé microphones, TesiraFORTÉ X 800 has 8 channels of AEC, supporting up to 8 microphones while TesiraFORTÉ X 1600 is the largest model, with 16 AEC channels and as many supported microphones.

When using Biamp Launch auto-configuration, TesiraFORTÉ X 1600 supports a maximum of 8 Parlé microphones, but these limitations do not apply to manually configured TesiraFORTÉ X.

Connections and protocols

TesiraFORTÉ X is a multimedia network device with five Ethernet ports, all 1G. Ports 2-5 support PoE+ power, very practical for reducing cabling in meeting rooms and simplifying the entire system. Port 1 supports control (web UI) and VoIP connections, while ports 2-5 support AVB for various connected Biamp devices, as well as Dante/AES67. The connections between PC and TesiraFORTÉ X take place through port 1, while the USB port is a dedicated audio endpoint. The new TesiraFORTÉ X models, and this is also new, do not have a display on the front panel.

The TesiraFORTÉ X generation is the first to support AVB, Dante and AES67 in a single device, hosting a 32×32 virtual Dante interface and a Tesira AVB 128×128 interface. The AES67 standard is supported in the Dante interface and must be enabled using Dante Controller software. The AES67 channels therefore fall within the calculation of the Dante channels.

Where additional AVB or Dante ports are required, up to three TesiraCONNECT TC-5 devices can be connected to the TesiraFORTÉ X, while if more TC-5 units are required, they can be connected in a daisy chain configuration or in a hybrid configuration daisy chain/star. In such a configuration, the deployed TesiraFORTÉ X units would function effectively as multimedia network switches.

Even more flexibility

We mentioned it just above: TesiraFORTÉ X’s main “competitor” is Devio SCX, which however only allows self-configuration. TesiraFORTÉ X brings both the installer and the user greater flexibility to build systems that are even more suited to the location and the needs of use.

Considering that both of them (Tesira and Devio) have a web interface to allow users to manage their VoIP configuration and network settings, it should be noted that TesiraFORTÉ X was created to allow a single device to fulfill different roles, with more flexibility. Moreover, TesiraFORTÉ X is fully backwards compatible, being able to work easily in systems that already have older Tesira models within them.
