Connessioni – After so many years of PL+S, how do you intend to interpret the market that the fair represents today?<\/strong><\/p>\nMira Woelffel<\/strong> – Prolight + Sound covers a broad spectrum of submarkets, but always maintains a clear focus: that of technology solutions for special experiences, whether it is concert stages, clubs, and discos, trade shows, museums, or experiential worlds. It is important for us to continually expand our portfolio. We have recently been successful in the field of theater and stage technology, an area in which PL+S has become the most important meeting point in Europe.<\/p>\nTogether with our partners, we are always thinking about the market segments in which PL+S can be successfully positioned. This year, for example, we are collaborating for the first time with IAAPA, the global association for the attractions industry<\/strong>, and at the same time we are inviting theme park industry executives to the fair. Innovative event and media technology play an increasingly important role in this economic sector, which is becoming an increasingly relevant target market for our exhibitors.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
C – What are the strengths of your organizational structure, which has been active on this fair for a long time?<\/strong><\/p>\nMW<\/strong> – As an exhibition industry company with its own infrastructure, we are part of the international family of event organizers. We know the needs and demands of the industry, both in terms of organization and venue. We collaborate with various partners and associations and address the right issues that move the industry. In this way, we create a place where the industry feels at home and where great ideas for the future of events and entertainment are born. Another strength of PL+S is the distinctly international profile of exhibitors and visitors: we are supported in this by Messe Frankfurt’s international sales network, which covers 180 countries in all regions of the world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
C – What about the next edition of PL+S?<\/strong><\/p>\nMW<\/strong> – Together with our partners we are constantly developing new presentation and training formats. New for 2023, for example, is the ProAudio College, created in close cooperation with the German Association of Tonmeisters (VDT)<\/strong>. It will offer specialized lectures and workshops for audio technicians during all four days, the program will focus on immersive sound reinforcement solutions, psycho-acoustics, and live sound in challenging environments, and we will also talk about careers in audio. In this context, I would also like to mention Prolight + Sound’s Future Hub<\/em>, which groups content for young professionals. Another new feature is Future Talents Day<\/em> on Friday, April 28, dedicated to interns, students, and all interested young professionals. It offers a series of lectures on career scenarios in the events industry, networking with exhibiting companies, behind-the-scenes tours, etc.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
C – What will visitors find at PL+S 2023 and why visit the fair?<\/strong><\/p>\nMW<\/strong> – First of all, an overview of innovations in the field of event and media technology unique in Europe. For the first time since 2019, PL+S will take place without pandemic-related restrictions, as a result, exhibitors from all over the world, including Asia, will again be present in large numbers – so the LED sector in particular will be significantly stronger than in the last edition.<\/p>\nIn addition, visitors will be able to count on an extensive educational program. In addition to current trends in event and media technology<\/strong>, the program will focus on sustainable event organization<\/strong>, staff training in times of shortage of skilled workers, and business development in the post-covid era. The issue of gender diversity is also close to our hearts<\/strong>. For example, we are collaborating for the first time with the Women In Lighting<\/em> initiative, which draws attention to the achievements of female professionals. As part of this, there will be special lectures and discussions and a Women In Lighting Lounge, a meeting space for women working in media and event technology to meet leading personalities and present career opportunities.<\/p>\nFinally, a fair should not only be business but also fun. That is why I am delighted to be able to participate in the big gathering to be held on the evening of the first day of the fair (April 25). Here, all exhibitors and visitors are invited to celebrate and toast together to our achievements and momentum for the future!<\/p>\n
