Audio Effetti presents the latest addition to the Audiophony family of wireless microphones, the PACK-UHF410-Hand-F5, a kit comprising a handheld transmitter, a True Diversity receiver, and corresponding plastic carrying case.

There are two special features of this system: the UHF frequency range of 514 to 564 MHz and the transmitter power of an impressive 35 mW!

As anticipated in our news of September 23, 2022, in fact, as of July 1, 2022, the band from 698 to 790 MHz is no longer usable for radio microphones since it has been allocated to other services, as per the regulations of the latest PNRF (National Frequency Distribution Plan). On the other hand, that above 800 MHz was already banned in 2013 to make room for DVB-T channels, and currently only a small slot between 863 and 865 MHz is available for free use but with a maximum transmitting power of 10 mW. Moreover, as can be imagined, this slot is densely occupied.

The frequencies chosen by Audiophony for PACK-UHF410-Hand-F5 fall in an optimal range. In fact, the PNRF stipulates, for frequencies 470 to 608 MHz, use for radiomicrophones, temporary wideband audio links, television broadcasting and SRD, with a maximum ERP (Effective Radiated Power, which also takes into account antenna gain) power of 50 mW.

Normally competitive wireless microphones in the same price range based on handheld transmitters offer a transmission power of 10 mW, some go as high as 20/25 mW, while Audiophony claims 35 mW. Higher power provides more peace of mind for the operator in certain application areas, such as in line-of-sight links where the number of working radio microphones is only a few, where intermodulation phenomena are absent or negligible. In the situation where a reporter needs to connect with the director, for example, a radio system capable of working well over long distances is essential, and the increase in power from 10 to 35 mW certainly benefits range.
