This year is all about inclusiveness and promoting diversity, with so many events and organizations working toward a future with more gender equality. The AVIXA Women’s Council hosted a panel of shared experiences discussing their journey in the AV industry, their challenges, and how the AV industry addresses the gender imbalance. The panel included Michaela Hirsch of Peerless-AV, Greg Jeffreys of Visual Displays, Malle Kaas of Women in Live Music, Diana Quintero of Bose and co-chair of the AVIXA Women’s Council, Anna Shahin of Audiologic, and Rob Smith of Shure.

In contrast, the Italian group of the AVIXA Women’s Council met in person for the first time on Tuesday for a panel to discuss their professional experiences and the importance of women’s empowerment in the pro AV industry.

Today, the AVIXA Women’s Council DACH is meeting for its first in-person meeting to network and understand the needs or how to positively influence the next generation to close the gap.

Finally, WILM (women in live music) with its lounge hosts WIL (women in lighting) and has organized a series of panels, workshops and networking meetings.

Thus, there seems to be a strong trend to change the industry toward an inclusive direction, starting with education and dialogue.
