\nSince returning from the ISE, what initially seemed a \u2018distant concern\u2019 has turned into a concrete reality, as within a week Italy has become one of the territories with the most cases of contagion in the world. Since the last \u2018Black Monday\u2019 that brought us an apocalyptic scenario, with the Prime Minister live from the bunker of the Civil Protection, only today the media have begun to filter the externalisations of a stressed and confused policy, and the policy to externalise in a way more balanced.
\nThe first effects of the spread not only of the Virus but above all of the panic, have been very concrete and visible to everyone: wanting to omit the blatant manifestations of the supermarkets taken by storm, and the exhaustion of the stocks of surgical masks, we are all experiencing delays and cancellations. Uncertainty is taking place in the planning of the activities of the immediate and medium term, with a general slowdown in projects (and revenues). Starting with the staff (the meeting with KNX Italia will be held only remotely, many post ISE appointments are postponed or will be made via videoconference …) getting to the market events (MIRTech, Light & Building, MCE, the Salone del Mobile, but also many other courses and small events) mostly postponed to a later date; going even higher, it is not difficult to imagine a spring season – and perhaps a summer one – compromised for all that is tourism and hospitality.
\nWithout wanting to minimise the tragedy of those in quarantine, or of the deaths related to the Virus, we would also like to give you news of those who are trying to offer a different view of the situation, telling the unexpected behind the scenes. Many schools in Lombardy have been closed for a week or two to stem the contagion, but many teachers have not given up and are reorganising the classes on online platforms, trying to give a signal of confidence and the possibility of continuing a normal life, already thinking about returning to class. \u201cWe need to give a signal: the school is open even if only virtually.
