The DLA-Z1 projector is the JVC’s top of the range for Home Theater applications. The projector combines a native 4K D-ILA device developed by JVC with a phosphor laser light source with proprietary BLU-Escent technology. The model, thanks to the nominal brightness of 3.000 lumens, is designed for HDR 4K applications on large screens. The newly released firmware adds Auto Tone Mapping, new color profiles for Panasonic’s Blu-Ray 4K UHD player and an expanded range of screen adjustment modes.

To be precise, the V2.0 update will be available from 27 June 2019 and will include:

1) Auto Tone Mapping function, which automatically adjusts the basic settings according to the information contained in the master, to produce optimal HDR10 images. Different images in HDR can then be viewed without manual adjustments. In the event that the information is not present in the master, a fixed value will be set which can however be changed manually;

2) Specific color profiles for Panasonic’s Blu-ray DP-UB9000 UHD player. Users will be able to select one of the two color profiles developed for the Panasonic UHD 4K reader. The color profiles in the projector will work in combination with the reader’s HDR Optimizer where the tone mapping of the HDR contents, built based on the metadata, will be integrated with the projector’s capabilities;

3) Improvements in the screen adjustment mode. The projector offers settings that correct the color balance for a wide range of screens based on the features and materials used. The firmware upgrade expands the number of settings from 135 to 165.

The new firmware V2.0 will be downloadable at this link.
