At the “Music Inside Rimini” Sony Professional presented the new technologies and the latest audio-video solutions that increase the creative possibilities and flexibility of workflow in the broadcast environment. Two cardinal points: the enhancement of live contents, in order to make them more and more engaging, and the workflow efficiency.

The Sony booth at MIR offered visitors the chance to experience the full range of camcorders, including the new HXR-MC88, launched at NAB 2019, as well as audio solutions for live applications, the latest generation DWR and DWT radio microphones, the LMD-A series monitors with the new HDR software, ending with cloud-based “XDCAM air” and “Virtual Production” services that allow you to create, control, connect and distribute content when and where you want it through a shared workflow.

The Sony presence at MIR 2019 has expanded beyond the stand, at Pavilion C3 – Palco Rock 1, where it was possible to see at work and test the solutions for 4K HDR Live shooting, during the performance of the Pop Deluxe band.

The most interesting novelty was the ultra-compact HD camcorder HXR-MC88: the Exmor RS CMOS sensor with 14.2 megapixels allows working even in low light conditions such as very intense light. The camera is also equipped with the Fast Hybrid autofocus system, as well as 4-step ND filters and 12x optical zoom, which can be doubled up to 24x with Clear Image Zoom, maintaining full resolution thanks to Super Resolution technology, and increased up to 48x with Sony’s Digital Extender.

In a small corner for interviews, MIR visitors were also able to experiment with the PXW-Z190 and PXW-Z280 camcorders, equipped with a set of native 4K sensors. In this set-up the camcorders were wirelessly connected with the XDCAM Air and Virtual Production platforms, allowing them to experiment with the concept of a new workflow for cost-effective production.

The MIR was also the occasion to present a new Sony proposal: “Intelligent Media Service”, which includes the new generation solutions and services aimed at the innovation of production processes. For example, XDCAM Air is a cloud-based service that allows you to wirelessly connect camcorders from locations to broadcaster infrastructures, integrating with journalistic and MAM editorial systems (eg Sony Media Backbone Hive and Media Backbone NavigatorX) to support remote acquisition workflow.

The new features include bi-directional support of the audio intercom function, HEVC streaming (H.265) and streaming for multi-point distribution. Virtual Production, instead, is the configurable cloud-based Sony solution that provides a complete set of production tools, video-audio mixer, storage, titling, graphics to finalize multi-platform streaming.

Finally, visitors were able to register for Sony DMPCE – Digital Motion Picture Center Europe at the Sony booth, held at the famous Pinewood Studios, near London.
