The aim of the new Amos Rex museum, just inaugurated in Helsinki, was to offer an immersive experience, and was achieved thanks to 135 Epson projectors.

Epson leaves its mark in Finland, at the Amos Rex art museum, just inaugurated in the center of Helsinki, where several digital installations are projected by 118 high-brightness Epson projectors, while another 17 projectors are used for information and signage purposes.

The main use of Epson 3LCD projectors is the construction of the immersive digital installations curated by teamLab, an interdisciplinary artistic collective consisting of 500 components among programmers, engineers, computer graphics animation experts, mathematicians and architects, whose aim is “to explore a new relationship between human beings and the world through art.”

The Amos Rex museum has been designed to create flexible structures that can adapt to the ever-changing needs of contemporary art. The choice of the Epson brand for video projection was taken due to the high brightness and color rendering of the 3LCD laser models, together with the flexibility of the installation, with the possibility of mounting the projectors in any position. The Epson projectors used include models with 3LCD laser light source, native 4K and ultra-short optics.

“The exhibition is a remarkable example of how Epson video projectors can be used to offer the public a truly engaging experience, which we are certain will help the museum strengthen the status of Helsinki as a European city of culture” – said Neil Colquhoun, Executive Director of the Professional Displays sector of Epson Europe.

“The teamLab exhibition is extraordinarily complex as regards the technical side” – concluded Kai Kartio, director of the Amos Rex museum. “Epson’s 3LCD laser projectors are the most suitable to meet this challenge thanks to their brightness, contrast and color reproduction features.”
