TED, an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, Design, is a non-profit organization with the purpose of promoting the circulation of ideas and organizing events that provide the meeting between amazing minds with innovative ideas. In this third edition of TEDxVicenza, the great novelty was the powerful, innovative approach used to tell a story. This is the Immersive Storytelling, which is based on the considerations that Mick Odelli did three years ago, in occasion of the first edition of TEDxVicenza, about the three fundamental aspects in creating an immersive experience: spatial, sensorial and finally the most important, emotional involvement, from which feelings, moods and emotions arise. Thanks to biomarketing techniques, this immersive storytelling experience has been made interactive and participative.

In fact, through a special facial recognition software that recognizes numerous facial expressions, DrawLight has created an installation where viewers of TEDxVicenza, edition called “vis-a-vision”, could be protagonists. Face-to-face with images and video footage designed to stimulate precise emotions (happiness, anger, disgust, etc.), visitors have been “scanned” by a special software that can capture their reactions and turn them into big data, without affecting their privacy in any way.

The experience, called #sappiamocosaprovi, ended with the publication of the data thus collected on a dedicated page on the TEDxVicenza website, and with an “interpretation” made on stage by Mick Odelli. In short: audiovisual installations that cause emotions, read the spectator’s ration and consequently change, a further evolutionary step from the Immersive Storytelling to what might now be called Adaptive Storytelling. Always in the logic of the innovative and courageous projects that characterize this event, which this year has been sold out with almost a thousand spectators.
