The Sony Live IP production platform is supported by Juniper Networks, with its switching technology. This platform enables broadcasters to acquire and distribute live content such as sports and political events around the world. Using the Internet Protocol networks, Live IP solves the problem of real time data transportation between the external location and production studios. The open and interoperable Juniper technology therefore meets the Sony need to create open solutions for the specific needs of each customer.

Traditionally, in fact, to achieve the reliability and low latency necessary, the broadcaster had to rely on digital serial interfaces (SDI) and coaxial cabling for the transport of live content. But the need to transmit at faster frequencies of dynamic ranges and high resolutions, often make it prohibitively expensive and technically complicated the use of traditional technologies based on hardware and cabling.

Sony has thus made available a simpler and open architecture, compatible with the Juniper technology. Live IP supports HD and Ultra HD (4K) video, audio, sync signals and control data over an IP network via a single network cable.

Sony and Juniper have also agreed to provide training courses on IP Live turned to broadcasting. During the courses, participants will see how to build an IP network, how to control and manage the settings for optimal performance, and how to fix any errors.
