The historic founder and leader for many years of 3G Electronics, one of the most important Italian companies in the field of integrated solutions for the Audio and Video world, from Digital Signage to Control rooms, left us a few months ago.

When a figure such as Sergio Gallo Gorgatti goes away, it is impossible not to hear, deep in your heart perhaps, a faint but very present sound: that of an era that, transcending, gives way to another. Because there is no doubt that an entire epoch is linked to the name of Sergio Gallo Gorgatti, founder – back in 1969 – of 3G Electronics, still flourishing and well-established today in the sector of technology solutions providers for Digital Signage systems, Control Rooms and, in general, for systems integration.
Everyone in Italy – and not only – who practices our industry knows 3G Electronics: this is more than enough to give credit to the decades-long work of a far-sighted and courageous entrepreneur like Sergio Gallo Gorgatti who, observed from the point of view of “Connessioni,” which for so many years has chronicled his ideas and successes, can only be identified by two words: innovation and pragmatism.
Maurizio Vacca, sales director of 3G Electronics:
He was a true innovator,” he told us, “just think of how much he believed in electronics … in years when it practically did not yet exist! He always had a great ability to see far, combined with an extraordinary concreteness in everyday life, qualities that led to his meeting with Matrox, a brand that he, precisely as an innovator, brought to Europe. I was amazed by his vision and his calmness in dealing with business; he was always modern, always current. There were so many changes over the years, but that he always faced with serenity. The crisis of 2008? He would reply that he had already faced several, but that with professionalism and investing in the company and its soundness, we could overcome it. It is not an easy thing for an entrepreneur to respect his own vision, consistency with the company’s mission and, of course, the work of the employees .
This form of respect was also known to us, who have been writing articles about the achievements and successes of 3G Electronics for years. Maurizio confirms and raises the bar:
Yes, he knew how to delegate and at the same time maintain firm control. I remember that he always consulted me a lot over the years, and he used to ask me: what do you need to improve? Here, this question, and the way he asked it, was at the heart of his being an entrepreneur, letting you know that he believed in your abilities, that he wanted to share your vision. I was first an employee and then a partner in the company, but his attitude was always consistent: I had a constant confrontation with him in the market, he knew how to spur you on to look for new markets, new contacts and new ideas. His company imprint has remained and will remain, in the form of a willingness to innovate and to be practical.
It is now up to his son Stefano, therefore, to carry on this great legacy, which is not only a company but, also and above all, an attitude toward the market and technology, both “environments” to be explored-according to the founder’s lesson-with curiosity and interest.
At the level of roles, in fact, not much has changed – Maurizio Vacca confirms to us. Stefano Gallo Gorgatti, having long been at his father’s side, with already a role in the company for several years, has taken charge of the management part, while the other departments are perfectly rooted having already obtained a considerable degree of autonomy. The main lack is still confrontation with such an experienced person, as Sergio was, who advised without ever imposing. I remember that, even when we had different visions, he always favoured an honest and productive discussion to reach a common goal.
