After a weeks of well-earned vacation, here we are again at our desks full of enthusiasm! But before we focus on September’s events, we would like to highlight an important announcement that was made just before our summer break, and perhaps for this reason it has been a bit underplayed.
SIEC, the Italian S.I. association that has long been engaged in the recognition of Systems Integrators and the professionality of industry companies, announced that PDR 4/2013 (to simplify a certification form for companies and professionals) is about to become a full-fledged Technical Standard, recognized by UNI (the Italian regulating body), and with a training course to recognize the role of the AVC Integrator. Work Group 29 was thus established and will be engaged in two projects:
- Project UNI1604857 “Audio Video Lights and Controls (AVLC) systems integration Services – Requirements of design, installation, configuration, calibration, programming and technical checks” (the project to transform Procedure 4/2013 into a technical standard).
- Project UNI1604858 “Non-regulated professional activities – Audio Video Lights and Controls (AVLC) systems integrator – Requirements of knowledge, ability and skill” instead establishes the requirements (still in conformity with EQF [European Qualifications Framework]) relative to the professional activity of the AVLC Systems integrator—that is, the professional who designs, installs, configures, programs and verifies the integration of professional AVLC systems.
Those who followed the process know that this is an important step ahead, thanks to SIEC and the entire sector, for the recognition of workers and companies: not only will Systems Integrator become a full-fledged profession, but it will benefit from a training process and a certification that will also be valid outside of Italy. It will thus be possible to think about the right recognition of the proper skills needed for the profession, and with time one might think that they will also find their place in calls and contests. With a secure development for the entire sector… it will no longer be possible to be left behind!
Coming back to Connessioni’s activities, we will open this second half of the year with two new opportunities to connect two worlds: the AV market and end users, who are increasingly receptive to editorial projects and training events that place the solution at the center. Products not for “how they are made” but for “how they are used,” the advantages of systems integration for end users and not as a collection of technical specifications.
Indeed, preparations are already underway for the next stops of Edu Tournée, which will bring us to Modena on 2 October and to Florence on 18 October, in collaboration with Didacta – the fair dedicated to the world of education. Everything will be accompanied by Connessioni’s traditional editorial component, with weekly newsletters, reportage from the primary sector fairs and a magazine with completely renewed graphics and content, with the goal of drawing AV companies and professionals closer to the needs of end users.
There will be no shortage of news… keep following us!
