The winning example from Unione Confcommercio Milano, which chose the VM1600 matrix switch for revamping their conference room with digital technologies.
In conference rooms, perfect integration means have a flexible installation available with features capable of adapting to a wide variety of needs, without compromising the quality of presentations and AV content which vary case-by-case. This is what Unione Confcommercio Milano was seeking when they entrusted the specialists at Save Technology with the task of finding the best solution for updating their “Orlando Hall” with digital technologies. The renowned association aimed at revamping the room’s AV installation, developed over 562 m2 with 490 seats, installing a versatile solution that is able to manage several inputs and allows for separating the audio component from the system when needed. Among Confcommercio’s “desires” was interoperability between various brands and reliable signal transmission over long distances.
These design requests became reality with the choice of Edoardo Nogara, CEO of Save Technology, and of the experts at Agenzia Curreri, who identified Aten’s VM1600 matrix switch as the ideal solution for guaranteeing switching without interruptions, wide availability of inputs and outputs, compatibility with numerous interfaces, installation scalability and, consequently, performance at the height of such an iconic environment. “Beyond allowing us to satisfy the client’s requests – comments Nogara -, the interoperability of Aten products simplified the installation of the entire AV solution”.
The advantages of integrating with Aten
Among the product’s most appreciated features is certainly its modularity, which makes it compatible with the most common interfaces on the market, ensuring the integration of existing setups (VGA) in the new distribution system, while also keeping in mind future upgrades. HDBaseT technology, furthermore, keeps AV, Ethernet, power, USB and control signal transmission reliable up to 100 meters through a single Cat 5e/6A cable, while switching without interruptions substantially relieves the perception of a source change, maintaining high audience concentration.
The VM1600 matrix switch also gives the technicians at Unione Confcommercio Milano advanced access and real-time control of various local and remote AV input devices. In fact, users can address content directly on monitors, screens, projectors and/or loudspeakers simply by using the buttons on the front panel. The integrated scaler encrypts the video format in order to allow for passing in real time and the LCD display on the front panel quickly displays all active connections. Equipped with automatic signal conversion, the VM1600 effectively dialogues with various digital video formats such as HDBaseT, HDMI, DVI, 3G-SDI and VGA, thus being ideal for large-scale applications such as convention centers and control rooms.
Along with the VM1600 matrix switch, the conference system includes a VS184B True 4K HDMI splitter, three VE814 HDMI HDBaseT extenders, that thanks to the local HDMI output on the HdbaseT transmitter can control what signal is sent to the beamers, four VE801 HDMI HDBaseT-Lite extenders, two VM7804 HDMI input boards, two VM8804 HDMI output boards, one VM7514 HDBaseT input board, one VM8514 HDBaseT output board and a VM7104 VGA input board.
