Prolight + Sound is upon us! It will take place from 4 to 7 April and represents a unique occasion for workers in the sector to get a close look at the evolution of the entertainment world. Like every year, the trade fair (currently recognized as one of the most important in the European panorama) will take place in Frankfurt and presents an agenda packed with appointments including events, conferences and seminars. Many topics will be covered, especially those pertaining to the integration of new technologies and audio-video systems. We talked about it directly with the event’s director himself, Michael Biwer, over the course of a long interview that we will share in the upcoming issue of Connessioni. Here is a taste of what he had to say.
A word from the Show Director
Today, participating in a trade fair like this one is of fundamental importance for those who intend to understand the developments that the market has in store as best as possible, suggests MICHAEL BIWER, Group Show Director of the “Entertainment, Media & Creative Industries” sector of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, who we interviewed in order to provide a more complete panorama of this event: “Observing what happens in other sectors, it is difficult for us to find a market that is experiencing growth as rapidly as that of media and audiovisual event technologies – Michael Biwer shared with us. Technical innovations, growing expectations and legal aspects in constant change express the clear necessity of new solutions. It is therefore essential that participants not only discover new products, but also enlarge their own international network and learn from their colleagues in order to keep up with these changes. Prolight + Sound proves to be a useful platform in this sense: it helps transfer this knowledge and experience. Consequently, we can’t wait to meet the industry’s professionals at this global event for our sector. See you in Frankfurt!”
The complete interview with Michael Biwer will be published in next week’s newsletter.
2017’s Edition: some news
Confirming that a strategy for the future has been studied, the trade fair has undergone several changes even since last year, starting with the hours that have once again been confirmed with opening at 10:00 and closing at 18:00. Furthermore, new attractions will be included, such as the “Silent Stage” area, where visitors will be able to learn how to reduce the sound level on the stage and understand how the concept of the silent stage can benefit sound quality for the public through best-practice examples.
Like each year, 2017’s edition for the entertainment world is put in close proximity to that of music thanks to Musikmesse, which will open its doors on 5 April and will continue until the 8th. Several listening areas will be available, within which exhibitors can set up their own installations and where it will be possible to meet with experts of international caliber.
Thus, the two sectors on display at Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse combine and participating in them becomes fundamental, most of all for professionals in our market, which for years has been veering towards greater systems integration.
