The biggest news by Powersoft at Prolight + Sound 2017 is the close dialogue between Armonia and SMART, two known instruments for monitoring and control of complex audio systems
True harmony to Armonia, we can annotate. Powersoft opens to SMART, the main software for the measurement and for the tuning of the live audio system, and makes Armonia dialogue with it in a transparent and constructive manner. This collaboration will bring good news for professionals in the audio world. In fact, once communication is established between the two software, it’s possible to take measurements made by SMART and import them into Armonia, which, thanks to the internal DSP, is able to perform a job that would normally require long listening sessions and manual calibrations during the set up of a system, however, with the need for many microphones distributed in several points of the environment. In short, set a system becomes easier with the collaboration between Armonia and SMART. It’s no longer to listen and change the settings, but make an immediate capture of all data needed to then draw the right evaluation in form of diagrams. It thus works offline, and changing the parameters it will be possible to see, in real time, their changes on system functionality. Listening, in short, become a detail, or nearly so, and can be done – dutifully – only at a later time.
Furthermore, it should specify that the starting data are not hypothetical data, but actual measurements of the place where the test is carried out, including important factors such as temperature and humidity. Based on real data, the measurement will be just as real. The software Armonia is free, and can be used both Powersoft products with third party products.
Alongside this new linked to software world, in Frankfurt were also exposed Powersoft amplifiers that, through the inclusion of the DSP and the use of the software, are evolving into real control platforms, suitable for many applications: live, installations, large events and so on. In short, a very rich PL+S for this Italian company!
