Philips professional displays to play content that raises awareness about preventive eye care
At least 2.2 billion people in the world suffer from visual impairment, and nearly 90 percent of the world’s blind or visually impaired population live in low-income countries.
The Eye Care Foundation is a major international charity founded in Amsterdam and active in countries in Asia (including Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos) and Africa (Tanzania). Born out of the need to provide and establish good and affordable eye care in developing countries, the Eye Care Foundation supports people who do not have access to good health care, or who cannot afford it, to prevent and treat blindness and eye diseases.
It is critical to prepare eye care providers in the countries where Eye Care Foundation works.
One such project is in Vietnam, where community health workers are trained to facilitate access to eye care services, which contributes to the reduction of blindness in Vinh Long province.
Professional displays are an optimal supproto means for these trainings, as they allow teams to show, in large format and high resolution, the symptoms of diseases and the effects of treatment.
PPDS supports Eye Care Foundation, along with its affiliate organizations-TP Vision, MMD Monitors and Displays, and AOC-as part of the TPV Cares program. Therefore, when the opportunity arose to offer more support through Philips solutions, the team responded immediately, choosing two Philips professional displays – 65″ and 43″ Q-Line – then shipped and installed at Vinh Long Eye Hospital in Vietnam. One screen is utlized for training and reviewing images with patients in the treatment rooms, while the other is for managing access at the reception desk. Both displays allow the Vinh Long team to educate and inform about the importance of early intervention on eye problems through the use of video, images, and static content.
Björn Stenvers, director of Eye Care Foundation: “The biggest challenge for us is finding sufficient resources to curb the increase in cases of blindness around the world. The displays provided by PPDS enabled us to train the team at Vinh Long Hospital, who then informed patients about the importance of prevention in reducing cases of blindness.”
High-impact displays designed to provide high quality, color, and resolution to enable the Vinh Long team to display images and treatments flawlessly.
Multi-purpose function: displays are chosen and positioned to meet the hospital’s training, information, and entertainment needs.
