Four events-GEE-Global Elevator Exhibition, ME-MADE expo, SMART BUILDING EXPO, and SICUREZZA-for a single event scheduled in November 2023 at Fiera Milano
In the presence of numerous experts and representatives of institutions, MIBA, Milan International Building Alliance, the event that will bring together four events from November 15 to 18, 2023, was presented today in Milan: GEE – Global Elevator Exhibition, ME-MADE Expo, SMART BUILDING EXPO and SICUREZZA. At the heart of the exhibition proposal is the synergy between fundamental compartments in building design, construction, and redevelopment.
THE CONTEXT
In Europe, particular attention is being paid to reducing the impact of buildings on the environment, with specific decarbonization targets by 2030, to reach the EU target of a 55 percent reduction in emissions. In the old continent, in fact, according to data from Energy&Strategy-Politecnico di Milano, 85 percent of buildings are more than 20 years old, and currently, only 0.2 percent of buildings each year undergo deep renovations that reduce their energy consumption by at least 60 percent. Then, in Italy, out of a building stock of about 13.5 million buildings, 50 percent are more than 50 years old.
Driven by tax incentives, the construction sector, according to Istat, has been registering – for more than a year – continuous growth, which is also reflected in employment (+1.4 percent in the first three months of 2022).
In this context, enormous opportunities open up for all markets involved – design, materials, facilities, and technologies. Such interventions would make it possible to adapt buildings to the new regulations and achieve European objectives by decreasing the impact on the planet and reducing energy consumption in favor of greater living comfort.
If in a long-term scenario, the building is destined to transform completely, becoming a true “service manager” (energy, health, safety, comfort), already in the coming years the turnover is expected to be important: according to the latest Energy&Strategy-Politecnico di Milano estimates, in 2026 the investments put in place – analyzed in three scenarios (basic, moderate and accelerated) – will range from a minimum of 10.7 to a maximum of 21 billion euros and will affect from 110,000 to 230,000 properties.
THE ADDED VALUE OF THE ALLIANCE
Thanks to MIBA’s events, Fiera Milano offers an opportunity to reflect on this ongoing revolution and to grow the markets around the world. This is an important initiative precisely when the role of building as a vector of development at the national level is being looked at with renewed attention and concrete initiatives are being implemented to incentivize the evolution of building and its green and sustainable transformation.
MIBA welcomes the response fielded by companies in the sector, represented by a continuous process of innovation of solutions – from materials to plant engineering. Indeed, the industry’s goal is to offer high standards to bring the building to establish itself as the central cell of the city, increasingly smart and sustainable.
The synergy among four events, expressions of markets called to interact and work together for the creation of an efficient building, represents the format through which industry professionals will be able to discover the proposals of the most qualified companies: MIBA’s goal is to bring a total of 1,000 companies in contact with professionals.
The four international appointments will tell the best of the evolution and innovation that is affecting the building in its broadest dimension to tell the buildings of the future such as the Gioia 22 tower that hosted today’s presentation, the new headquarters of the Intesa Sanpaolo group built in partnership with COIMA, which developed the building and manages the Porta Nuova Gioia investment fund participated by the same banking group.
Gioia 22, located in the heart of Milan’s Porta Nuova – the first neighborhood in the world to achieve LEED and WELL for Community sustainability certifications – and designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners, is the first tower in Italy to meet Nearly Zero Energy Consumption Building (nZEB) standards and has already met the European 2050 targets for 2°C decarbonization.
THE PROTAGONISTS OF MIBA
The MIBA – Milan International Building Alliance events are landmark appointments for their respective sectors.
GEE, Global Elevator Exhibition, an event entirely dedicated to horizontal and vertical mobility will debut Nov. 15-17, 2023. Strongly desired by the industry, which needed a reference event with an international scope, the event aims to be a European meeting hub for the elevator, escalator, moving walkway, and component industry, representing and promoting safety, quality, and the highest technical standards. A showcase dedicated to one of the sectors most sensitive to current changes and most interesting for urban renewal and energy cost containment.
ME-MADE expo is Italy’s leading event for the construction world. Scheduled for November 15-18, 2023, it will be a highly specialized and integrated platform, divided into two salons: Construction and Enclosure. Both offerings will be developed around the topics of Innovation and Sustainability, proposing to companies, buyers, professionals, technicians, and operators the most advanced products, services, and technologies to bring the construction world into the future.
SMART BUILDING EXPO (Nov. 15-17, 2023) is the home and building automation and technology integration event organized by Fiera Milano and Pentastudio. With a fast-developing market in the background, where buildings are increasingly automated, connected, and multitasking, it will tell the story of innovation with a focus on sustainable and smart solutions, which increasingly see every building as the basic cell of the smart city.
SICUREZZA (Nov. 15-17, 2023) is the benchmark event in Italy and among the first in Europe dedicated to security and fire. Aimed at all professionals who revolve around the world of security, the event offers a complete overview of video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, fire detection, and extinguishment, but also on the new cyber frontiers of security. In the 2023 edition, SICUREZZA is preparing to give space to all the souls of the industry and delve into the trends of the moment: digitization, integrated systems, and customized solutions, but also new skills and professionalism.
