For over two hundred years, the Royal Horticultural Society has involved millions of people in gardening and horticulture, offering tours of its four gardens in the United Kingdom, floral displays and seasonal events that have become very popular thanks to the spectacular lighting. Precisely to enrich the gardens of Wisley, Hyde Hall and Harlow Carr, three of the four centres of the RHS, Illuminate Design, the AV integrator of Witham in Essex, has purchased over 500 Cameo spotlights: spots, projectors and wash lights are used both manually and via DMX control. Perfectly blended points of light and colours illuminate and enhance the details of each location. From small shrubs to art installations, up to the huge redwood trees found within the gardens.
To illuminate the large spaces – with areas up to 150 hectares in size – and the countless species of trees and plants they host, 280 Q-Spot 40i outdoor spots with 40 W RGBA LEDs were used. Robin Shephard-Blandy, CEO of Illuminate Design, chose this solution to precisely illuminate objects and, when necessary, highlight them with radiant colours. The FLAT PRO FLOOD 600 outdoor with 6-in-1 RGBWA LEDs help create the background “brushstroke” effect, while more than 100 ZENIT® wash lights – 30 of the W600 type and 75 of the W300 type – also equipped with integrated W-DMX transceiver, they give power and flexibility to the installation. The FLAT PRO® 7 and FLAT PRO® 12 RGBWA outdoor spotlights have also found their perfect location in gardens. “The Cameo range is very broad and offers us almost everything we need, from the small Qspot 40i to the powerful W600 floods – explains Shephard-Blandy -. We are particularly satisfied with the high light output and the uniform color mixing.”
If walking through the gardens you happen to see a chameleon, don’t be afraid, it is the Cameo logo that hides among the thousands of plants of the Royal Horticultural Society!
