Light designers José Luis Martinez Brocal and Francisco Sandoval choose the Flat Pro series by Cameo, a brand distributed by Adam Hall, to illuminate the Rio Segura promenade and the Santiago Calatrava bridge.
Every night, since March 2020, the banks of the Murcia’s main waterway, the Rio Segura, come to life thanks to the project realized by José Luis Martinez Brocal and Francisco Sandoval. The two light designers, who had already collaborated in the past, chose to install 161 Cameo Flat Pro 7, which color and light up for miles the columns placed on the banks, and 18 Flat Pro 12 on the Puente de Vistabella structure, installed to enrich the work of the visionary architect Calatrava.
The suitability for outdoor use (IP65), the DMX Delay functions for a sequential effect of color changes without external control, the 10,000 lumens of the PRO 7 and the 15,000 lumens of the PRO 12, together with the 30° projection angle of the Cameo spots have made the realization of the Spanish project easier and more functional. Martinez Brocal confirms it: “It was not easy to find a luminaire that met our requirements for powerful light, high quality colors, low power consumption and complete suitability for outdoor use. The Flat Pro 7 offers a perfectly focused beam, ideal for illuminating the six-metre high columns from the ground.”
Light design thus returns to the service of sociality and culture: the citizens of Murcia and all students who live in this university town can now fully experience life along the river, which becomes a true point of exchange and sharing.
