Distributed in Italy by Prase Media Technologies, with which it recently entered into a partnership agreement, the AVer brand is among the most innovative and brilliant in the market when it comes to conference technologies, and the launch of the new CAM550 PTZ conference camera proves this once again. The two lenses in one camera body, enabling two different shots at the same time, join features such as Dynamic Framing, to optimize framing depending on the number of people in the room, and Artificial Intelligence, which enables camera control through simple hand gestures.
More solutions, more technology
AVer, a brand founded in 2008 based in Taiwan and engaged in the development and production of professional video technologies for various applications (from Educational to Corporate via Medical), has recently joined the stable of Prase Media Technologies, further enriching it with innovative products dedicated mostly to the Conference world, particularly in the category of PTZ cameras.

CAM550: Artificial Intelligence at the service of video conferencing
The new CAM500 PTZ camera, starting with the one that stands out the most: the 4K dual-lens technology, with the ability to take two types of shots at the same time, providing a premium conferencing experience for medium and large-sized rooms.
The first lens of the CAM550 is a “classic” PTZ camera with 12x optical zoom (which added to the digital zoom provides 24x total zoom), capable of clearly framing meeting participants. The second lens, on the other hand, is an AI-equipped lens with a 78° field of view, perfect for providing a panoramic view of the entire room, and offering all the wide-angle clarity of 4K definition to boot. The AI with which the camera is equipped enables gesture recognition, for touchless control without the use of remote controls. Just a few intuitive gestures are all it takes to control the camera’s zoom, and what is gained is ease of control and use.
In addition, another feature closely related to AI is Dynamic Framing, which significantly improves meeting efficiency. The CAM550 can quickly and accurately focus on participants and new arrivals. In fact, in the event of new arrivals, the secondary lens with AI goes into action to detect them, then the PTZ camera automatically reframes the scene.
Video conferencing at all levels of integration
The new AVer CAM550 is not only a good product in itself, but also in the way it interfaces with larger systems and in environments featuring other technologies, starting with the world of audio, which is indispensable when it comes to conferencing, especially with remote participants. First, the camera is compatible with the AVer PTZApp2 software, which enables tracking with third-party microphones in the room (full compatibility, for example, with Shure microphones, to stay within the Prase galaxy). The camera, in practice, automatically identifies speakers and adjusts the field of view instantly through voice tracking.
In addition, the new CAM550 makes it possible, thanks to the PTZApp2 software’s Virtual Stream feature, to avoid USB cable connections, as this technology causes the CAM550’s video signal to travel over a single Ethernet connection, ideal for virtual meetings. A PoE+ port further simplifies setup and reduces installation costs.
Finally, via PTZApp2 you can take advantage of the Smart Gallery feature on the camera, which enables face and body detection technology via AI to crop the faces of participants and ensure that everyone is properly captured. You can choose between headshot and half-body modes to suit any situation.
