An Israeli architectural icon brought back from the brink

Once a fiercely functional workers’ hostel, the Mivtachim Sanitarium high above the Mediterranean is an architectural icon
But prospects looked bleak and demolition loomed until architect Rani Ziss and philanthropist Lily Elstein turned it into a luxurious eighty-room hotel with two performance halls, AV tech to international concert standards and much of Lily Elstein’s famous art collection hanging on the walls.
